We've tried lots of different styles of shirts over the years, but our most popular shirt remains the simple t-shirt with a large Sandbar logo printed on the front.
Royal blue shirts with white ink seem to be the most in-demand color combination- whether it's because of the local university who uses a similar shade of blue or because Sandbar fans just like blue. Red is also pretty popular, and those of you waiting for either a red or blue shirt are in luck, because Dave just printed up a new batch of shirts.
Something new this time is a ladies cut red t-shirt. We've tried ladies shirts in the past, but it's really hard because the ladies are pretty particular about how their shirt fits. They have to take them out of the bag, try them on, and then the shirts never get folded properly or put back into the bag, and we have a mess on our hands.
These red shirts, however, aren't the typical tight, baby doll t-shirts- they're pretty much the same as the men's, except they are slightly fitted, have shorter sleeves, and are slightly shorter at the waist. If you wear a small in the men's style shirt that we always carry, you'll wear a small in the new ladies shirt. Hopefully this will make it a little easier to choose a shirt.
We'll try these and see how it goes, and if. All of the new logo shirts are $12, come in and get yours while they last!

We’ve added new shirts to our stock this week.
The girls (and guys who like pink) will love our new bright pink t-shirt. The color was called “heliconia,” whatever that is. The Sandbar logo is printed on the front of the shirt in white ink.
All the standard sizes are available, and you can get yours for just $12. Hurry before they’re gone!

Around The Sandbar, you have to watch what you say. The guys are pretty quick to add "that's what she said" after almost anything you could possibly say, turning every conversation into a joke.
I started to wonder where this phrase came from- and why- so I went to the knower of all things, Google.
According to newsvine.com, one of the first occurrences can be traced back to Wayne's World, the SNL skit turned movie, circa 1992:
[Holding Claudia Schiffer picture]
Garth: Hey, are you done yet? I'm getting tired of holding it.
Wayne: Yeah, that's what she said.
What I was really excited (note sarcasm) to see, however, is that some random guy actually created a holiday just for this phrase- and on February 15, no less. {That would be the day after Valentine's Day for those of you, like my husband, who aren't paying attention.} It was initially started as a Facebook event and has spread through word of mouth. Your goal on this day? To work "that's what she said" into conversations as relevantly and frequently as possible.
Anyway, just before Graduation, the guys finally figured out a way to tie this phrase to The Sandbar. Dave printed up a few shirts that day for the staff, and very soon we'll be printing more to sell to our adoring fans.
Here it is, in all it's glory:
If you think you might want one, check back. We hope to have them ready to sell this month. And mark your calendar for next February 15, when you, too, can partake in the International "That's What She Said" Day.

Once again, The Sandbar has signed up to be a Hero for the American Red Cross. We get to be a Hero by raising $1000 in donations.
Last year, the proceeds from all purchased hurricanes during the month of May were donated. We also tried experimenting with a photo project, but I'm not sure how well that went over.
Two years ago, we put together a Sandbar wedding package, with all proceeds going to the Red Cross.
This year, we have something new again: a special t-shirt. Since people buy so many Sandbar t-shirts anyway, it seemed only natural to design a limited-edition Sandbar shirt for the Red Cross. The front has the Sandbar logo on the chest where a pocket would be, and the back has this design:
The shirts are white with red ink, and they're $15 each. All proceeds benefit the Douglas County chapter of the American Red Cross. Get yours before they're gone!

This post is long overdue, because this shirt has actually been for sale at The Sandbar for quite awhile now,
but I didn’t have a good picture of it to share. Every time I tried to take one, Dave’s shirt was wrinkled, or dirty, or in the laundry basket.
Finally, here it is. This is another shirt that was printed by the folks at Hasty Awards in Ottawa, based off of a design that Dave found somewhere. They modified it slightly to fit The Sandbar a little better, and added our Wednesday promotion to it: "Everybody Gets Lei’d."
The shirt is our typical cotton t-shirt in a great blue color that we’ve never done before. Sizes available are the usual- S, M, L, XL, and 2XL.
We still have lots of them left, so come in and pick up yours today. They’re only $15. Even though gas prices may be skyrocketing, our shirt prices are holding steady.

Our friends at Hasty Awards in Ottawa printed up another shirt for the bar there, and Peach brought some extras to Lawrence.
Try to ignore the wrinkles and imagine your shirt freshly pressed. This new addition to our shirt lineup is kind of a coral, light orange-y color that was hard to capture with my camera phone. It’s also very definitely a ladies‘ fit, not a girls‘ fit, which means that you can select your normal size instead of having to go three sizes up so you can get it over your head.
The Sandbar logo and design is printed in a lovely shade of turquoise. It’s a very subtle, classic Sandbar design that we hope you like.
Get yours today for just $15.
