It's been pretty slow on the we've-got-news front, but I've got a few random odds and ends to share.
1. Thanks for a fantastic weekend! Downtown hasn't been as busy as usual lately, but last weekend was definitely an exception. The final home football game of the season certainly helped.
While we wish KU had won the game, we always appreciate the Nebraska fans that visit. As far as fans from other teams go, they are always very fun and never cause any problems.
2. Speaking of the game… this blog post popped up in my Google alerts today (that was fast!). It's about local music and our neighbor to the east, the Tap Room. Apparently the craziness of the football weekend spilled over there, too, and some folks had trouble finding us.
3. New pictures! I found more pictures from Halloween hiding on my camera. You can check them out on our Facebook fan page or our Flickr photostream.

Last week, we asked a question: where do you want to see our pictures online? Currently we're putting them on Flickr so that anyone can see them without signing up for something; but if our fans would rather see them on Facebook (or both), we want to accommodate.
The poll closed on Saturday, and the masses have spoken. All 24 of them. We appreciate those who took the time to vote, and we especially appreciate that none of you chose the "Nowhere, I don't care" option.
It looks like you'd rather see our pictures on our Facebook page, and a lot of you think we should put them on both Flickr AND Facebook.
So, that's what we'll do. From now on when we add new pictures, we'll put them on both sites. As we have time, we'll go back and add the pictures already on Flickr to Facebook, too.

I’m trying to figure out the best way to share our favorite Sandbar pictures.
We have a Sandbar Flickr photostream, and we also created a Sandbar Flickr group that you can join and add your own Sandbar pictures to. The photostream is available for anyone to see, but you have to be a Flickr member AND a group member in order to see the pictures in the group.
The reason I set up the Flickr photostream and group was because I wanted a place to share pictures without requiring you to register or sign in to another site.
However, is it inconvenient? Does anyone use Flickr, or visit our page?
I’ve thought about adding pictures to the Sandbar Facebook page– either instead of or in addition to Flickr. But I know that not everyone is on Facebook (yes, it’s true- my mom’s not!) so I don’t want to restrict the non-Facebookers from seeing our pictures.
So, I’m asking you. Here’s a poll. Pick an answer.

After the Bar Band warmed up the crowd, we had a quick break before Mark Valentine took the stage with his band. Valentine and the Ones played for the rest of the night and entertained the crowd with lots of Sandbar favorites and other great tunes for dancing and singing along.
Our good friend and photographer Pat took a million great pictures of the entire event. Here are a couple that give an idea of just how many people were at our party:
It was great to see so many families, kids, and teenagers out in the street dancing and singing. We really wanted this event to be a "thank you" party for all of our friends and customers throughout the year, and we wanted everyone to feel welcome to attend.
It was also fun to see quite a few people dressed up in costume- Peach found a fantastic pirate costume, and there were a number of other pirates in attendance at the party. Elvis even made an appearance. So did three brides- although we're pretty sure these weren't costumes but actual wedding dresses!
We're starting to see our friends sharing their own pictures on Facebook. If you have pictures from the event, we'd really love to see them! There are several ways you can share your Sandbar pictures:
- Upload them to Flickr and add them to the Sandbar Flickr group. Only group members can view the pictures.
- Add them to the Fan Photos on our Facebook page. It's a little tricky to figure this out- at least it was for me- so I've posted detailed instructions about how to do this.
- If you don't have a Flickr or Facebook account, you can still share your pictures. Email them to sandbar{at}thesandbar{dot}com and we might feature them on the blog or post them on our wall in the bar.
We've still got a few more things to share about last week's party. The highlight of our night was performing several of our favorite Sandbar float songs for the crowd. We also have several videos to share with you. Check back this week for more Sandbar party memories!
