It’s been awhile since we’ve had any new specials, and now all of a sudden we have two. It’s kind of like Christmas around here.
A week or so ago, I told you about the new pick-up window at the Ottawa location. And now, we have a great new special to give you even more of a reason to check it out.
Who doesn’t love 99-cent sandwiches? That’s right, every Thursday at The Sandbar in Ottawa, you can get a special sandwich for only 99 cents! We’ve started out by offering up our smoked BBQ brisket, but the sandwich may change in future weeks depending on our mood and inventory. Last week, the lovely Peach worked the pick-up window herself, and served up 248 sandwich specials! Lucky for us, the kitchen crew is fast, so the cars didn’t get backed up in line too much.
So, if you’re in Ottawa- or even if you’re not but you want a cheap meal- call your order in and then drive through and pick it up. Although, if you can’t find the pick-up window (and there were some who couldn’t), you can still come inside and order the special, too.

We’re bringing Lei Night back.
You may remember our Wednesday night special from a few years ago. We thought it was a great idea, but it never really got off the ground. Dave decided it was time to try it again and really get the Wednesday staffers to promote the heck out of it. It works like this: everyone who comes into the bar on Wednesday night gets a lei around their neck. Then, you try to convince nine other people to give you their leis- and each person who manages to finagle ten leis gets a prize.
The prize? The coolest shirt ever. And there’s no other way to get this shirt- you can’t buy it, and you can’t even steal it because we gave up keeping merchandise upstairs for people to peruse.
It’s a plain white t-shirt, with The Sandbar logo on the front, and "I got lei’d at" above the logo. Here’s a picture:
We think this promotion will be fun for groups of friends. Gather up a group and make a standing date to come to The Sandbar on Wednesday nights, then take turns each week collecting ten leis. Everybody wins.
And if you don’t have any friends to bring, come alone- this is the perfect icebreaker to give you a reason to talk to strangers in the bar. After all, a stranger is only a friend you haven’t met yet. And you know you want one of those shirts.

Did you know we have more food now?
Dave found a hot dog warmer and decided to start serving hot dogs. There are two kinds, regular hot dogs and cheddar brats. Each comes with a bag of chips. You can buy one for $3 or get two for $5. Now you don’t have to starve while you’re hanging out at The Sandbar!
Of course, we still have popcorn available all the time. We also have chips and salsa from La Familia on Wednesdays, and wings from Jefferson’s on Fridays.

Drumrollllllllll, please….
The Sandbar would like to announce our new Wednesday special, Mexi-Cans!!
Wednesdays at The Sandbar will feature $2.00 cans of Modelo and Tecate. We’ll still have the fabulous free chips and salsa provided by our friends up the street, La Familia Cafe and Cantina.
Sombreros will be available for wear and purchase, and free fun is always provided by our Wednesday night crew- Morgan, Blair, and John. Stop in some Wednesday after work and enjoy the warm weather, our open windows, and our new Mexi-Cans!

Ahhh, Tuesdays. The dollar fifty anything special at The Sandbar.
For a long time, it was dollar ANYTHING. Three bucks to get in, and drinks for a dollar all night long. The Sandbar was one of the first bars in town to have dollar nights. Tuesdays at The Sandbar were a ritual for my friends in college. For at least two years I don’t think we missed a single one. I suspect there were many other groups of Sandbar regulars with the same schedule. Back then if you weren’t inside by 9 p.m., you were waiting in line for at least an hour. It may sound crazy, but waiting in line was actually kind of fun, since everyone out there knew each other. It was a party outside, minus of course the drinks.
Over the years the price of alcohol kept going up, and The Sandbar finally had to raise the Tuesday drink price by fifty cents. It’s still a darn good deal, and it still keeps the place packed.
Come on by next Tuesday and have a drink!

Have you been to The Sandbar on a Thursday evening?
We have an excellent drink special that comes with souvenirs. Every Thursday, you can order The Sandbar’s signature Bahama Mama, and it comes in a logo pint glass that you get to keep! The first one is $5, for the glass and the drink, and every Thursday you can refill your glass with Bahama Mamas for only $3. Bring your glass back every Thursday, or just buy a new one to add to your collection. We have new colors and designs all the time.
You can’t beat this deal. And, they still come with beads.
